Making Training Meaningful: CYC Certification at the Organizational Level

This session will introduce participants to innovative ways to align employee’s training hours/professional development with the Child & Youth Care (CYC) certification, an international, widely recognized credential for child and youth care work practitioners.

CYC certification allows individuals to demonstrate their development as a professional and participate in true career development. Aligning training with competencies and creating intentional professional development plans with individuals to continue to elevate our programs has helped with recruitment and retention while enhancing employability skills.  Certification provides a transportable, widely recognized credential that benefits the employee over the entire course of their career.

Jessica McKinley has worked in the out-of-school-time (OST) field since 2010 with a focus on cultivating funding and program management statewide. Jessica is committed to out-of-school-time, is Secretary for the Association of Child & Youth Care Practice (ACYCP), sits on the Child & Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB), and the OST Board through the Indiana Department of Education.

Jessica is a  certified Child and Youth Care Practitioner at the Professional level and holds a master’s degree in leadership development with a focus on nonprofits. Jessica is a trainer for the Academy for Competent Youth Work and teaches the CYC: Foundations course.

Jessica enjoys instilling knowledge and providing  resources that will continue the advancement of youth work in Indiana and beyond.
