Very often people are hesitant to confront an issue because they are not confident in their skills to do so constructively and they are fearful it hurt their relationship with the person they are confronting. This highly interactive workshop will help participants build more confidence in their ability to confront in a good way and learn and practice the "Help Me Understand" style of confronting.

This self-guided tutorial gives you the information and tools needed to create resumes, references, and cover letters that will help you showcase your skills, experience, and other employment qualifications.

In today’s child and youth care (CYC) environment, funding, political events or other dynamic changes can find CYC professionals out on the street looking for their next position, with little or no advance notice.

Having an updated and effective resume, is not unlike knowing where your life-preserver is (and how to use it) during a lifeboat drill, or in the event of a real emergency. Hopefully, things won’t ever get to this point, but do you really want to take that chance?

If you want additional feedback on what you learned in this self-guided tutorial, upon request, Michael Mitchell will review your resume, references and/or cover letter and provide recommendations.  Use the link in the course to email him your work and request a review.

Upon the completion of the training, you will be able to:

• Create a concise and accurate one-page professional resume
• Identify what a specific employer is looking for in a job applicant
• Categorize their skills into the two types which employers want to discuss
• Know how to trouble-shoot some of the more common resume challenges
• Recognize the value and correct usage of cover letters
• Identify at least 3 ways in which resume creation prepares
 applicants for the interview
• Know the strategic use of references
• Know the #1 reason why employees get fired from their jobs

Due to the nature of this tutrial, there is no certificate of completion provided.
This tutorial is free to ACYCP Members (current membership subject to verification). Please contact Laura Klemm to get the ACYCP discount code.  We will respond within 48 hours.
