Cindy Carraway-Wilson, MA, CYC-P

With a 35+ year career spanning direct Child and Youth Care, therapy, and clinical leadership, Cindy Carraway-Wilson brings a holistic, trauma-informed approach to training and curriculum design. Cindy is passionate about empowering youth and the professionals who support them.

Grounded in positive youth development and trauma-informed, healing-centered engagement, she brings a deep, hands-on understanding to her work in creating tailored learning experiences that truly resonate with staff. Whether leading training on trauma-informed practices to support development, mindfulness, workplace happiness, or human trafficking prevention or creating custom content, Cindy combines her extensive background with actionable, real-world solutions.

Cindy has a Master’s degree in Psychology from Duquesne University and is a certified Child and Youth Care Practitioner at the professional level through the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB). Cindy is co-editor of the Families Thrive: Protective and Promotive Factors to Enhance Thriving for All Children, Youth, & Families training and was centrally involved in its development. She is also Past-President of the Child and Youth Care Certification Board (CYCCB). 

In addition to the CYC Foundations course, Cindy has facilitated a variety of training on topics including (but not limited to):

•  Positive Youth Development
•  LGBTQ topics
•  Outcome measurement supervision
•  Self-care and stress management for professionals, children and youth
•  Mindfulness for professionals and organizations
•  Trauma informed practice
•  Organizational planning and development.

As a senior instructor for the Academy for Competent Youth Work, she is committed to supporting the development of children, youth, and families by teaching the Child and Youth Care Foundations Course. Cindy also takes her focus on holistic care into teaching Pilates as a comprehensive Pilates instructor.

Our courses focus on core youth development principles that are widely used in all practice settings across the field of youth services.
